Interesting article about the need for more quiet in our lives. Couldn’t agree more. I am reminded of the words of Blaise Pascal, French Philosopher, 1623 - 1662 “ All the misfortunes of men arise from one single thing: that they are unable to sit quietly in a room alone” #timeforstillness.

Our annual Vision Day Retreats are full with waiting lists so we have come up with a plan! We are going to offer an online version on Saturday 11 th January. The workbook will be available to download or receive in the post and there will be 4 live webinars during the course of the day to guide you through the process. There will be guided meditations to help create a still and meditative place from which to review and reflect on your life.,The focus for the morning will be reviewing and reflecting on both the past year and the last decade. Then we will look at what is and isn’t working now and what needs to change. After a break for lunch there will be a live Conscious Resting meditation followed by creating a new vision session and finishing with a simple but practical action plan. #thelucyraynerfoundationSupporting our favourite charity The Lucy Rayner Foundation Charity Ball. They raise awareness and provide support for young adults with mental health challenges as well as supporting families bereaved by suicide. Lucy would have been 30 this month. Powerful and moving speech by Josh Connolly with the message that it is time to understand sensitivity and acknowledge that feelings matter. 500 people attending the ball, such love and openness and caring as everyone is here in support of this charity which is making a real difference through action and raising awareness. #thelucyraynerfoundation free counselling, monthly support groups, mental first aid training, men’s group, informal coffee mornings and more.

This venue in East Mosely, Surrey, has such a strong presence of stillness that it is easy for the mind to slow down and the body deeply relax. There are guided meditations, personal reflection time in the comfortable lounges or walk in the garden. And everyone’s favourite, a lying down deep relaxation exercise after lunch. I love beach huts!

If you have anyone in your life who needs 24 hour

If you have anyone in your life who needs 24 hour care then I can highly recommend ‘Revitalise’ who offer holidays for disabled people and their carers. I am here with my parents. It is the first time in 18 months they have been able to be together again. Mum is in a nursing home and needs full care. The extraordinary kindness of the staff, the fun and the laughter and a place where ‘disability’ is never an excuse not to do anything, is inspirational. There are trips on adapted boats for water activities as well as outings and in house entertainment. Not that we are doing anything much other than sitting in the sun and eating lots which is heaven for them. My room has the comfiest of mattresses as it’s a hospital bed! Although I am feeling a little institutionalised and am grateful for a solitary early walk on the beach each morning. What I especially love about these places is they are the dreams of people who want to make a difference and then take action. I admire that so much. Www. Revitalise.org.uk #disabledholidays
