4 Night Luxury Silence and Stillness Retreat

~ September 2019

As you may know, the beautiful St Cuthman’s retreat centre closed in June 2018 and we needed to cancel our retreats which were scheduled to be held there through until the end of 2019 – all of them were already over half-full.

I was curious as to where we would be going next, and trusting that somewhere else was waiting for us I soon discovered (or rather, re-discovered) the perfect place. This venue allows us to continue offering the opportunity to steep in stillness and silence in beautiful and peaceful surroundings.

Buckland Hall – Luxury Retreat Centre in South Wales

Buckland Hall

5pm on Sunday 29th September – 3pm on Thursday 3rd October 2019
4 Night Silence & Stillness Retreat with Marion, Martin, Gillian & Jan

What I love most about this gorgeous 4-star retreat centre set in 62 acres of countryside ( is that this was where my love affair with silent retreats began back in 2000. I have since returned many times over the years, but never envisaged that I would be booking out this impressive venue myself. But after running 9 silent retreats at St Cuthman’s I know exactly what to look for in a retreat centre, and Buckland Hall certainly ticks all the boxes.

We are still preparing the full itinerary for this retreat, but to give you an idea of what’s on offer during your stay…

  • Our group will be around 30 people, and we will have exclusive use of the venue
  • You will be guided and supported on how to ‘be’ in silence, so that you can benefit fully from this precious time

and you will be able to…

  • Deepen your stillness practice with morning and evening guided meditations
  • Enjoy the peace and quiet of the 62 acres of countryside
  • Rest deeply in your own room or in one of the many comfortable areas in the main house
  • Enjoy delicious specially prepared food
  • Bask in the warmth of the lovely log fires
  • Take part in optional meditative mandala art and meditative movement sessions

“The care and attention and love that was put into this retreat was felt and very appreciated. I loved all of it, and especially valued the freedom and light structure, I enjoyed and gained something from all the activities offered. The experience from the whole team was seamless and so valuable to me.”

Connect to your own inner wisdom

Your Soul is always attempting to guide your life along the highest path of your divine purpose, through intuition and synchronistic occurrences. These promptings are usually very subtle and quiet, and often we are too busy to hear or respond to their inner guidance.

Entering the silence creates space for your Soul’s wisdom to shine through

Here you can also come face to face with yourself, and in the willingness to just be with your own thoughts, without the addition of other people’s opinions, an inner strength and peace can develop that gives freedom beyond words.

“Should be called a retreat from the noise of the mind and external forms into the infinite stillness within all of us. Deeply grateful for this truly enlightening experience.”

Stephen Dixon – Previous silent retreat participant

This retreat is best suited for you if you already have some experience of meditation & being ‘still’

A chance for some tech-free time

To reap the full benefits of being in silence, we will disconnect from all technology, including your phone, for the duration of the retreat.

We will be offering a safe place to look after your phone for you so it is not far away, and you will be able to give your loved ones a 24 hour emergency contact number to use if needed.

About Marion Young and the retreat team

Marion and her team, Martin Young, Gillian Lenane and Jan Collis, have run many events together, in some cases going back as far as the last twenty years. Together they bring a wealth of experience of facilitating and supporting meditation and self-awareness groups.

Each with personal experience of being in silence for extended periods of time, many years of therapeutic & professional training practice and participation in self and spiritual development, together they offer a safe and sacred space in which to experience the many profound and transformational benefits of being in silence.

Why is silence so powerful?

Traditionally it has been religious orders that have recognised the power of silence, believing it to be the simplest path to God. Silence was considered to be ‘golden’, with its own vibration, higher and purer than anything else that life has to offer an earthly being.

Entering the silence creates space for your Soul’s wisdom to shine through. Here you can also come face to face with yourself, which is not always a comfortable process. But in the willingness to just be with your own thoughts, without the addition of other people’s opinions, an inner strength and peace can develop that gives freedom beyond words.

‘Great minds seek silence and solitude. It is here that the largest problems of life are worked out. The silence offers an ever available and unlimited opportunity for awakening the highest conception of truth.’

Charles Haanel – The Master Key System – 1929
